Description

“Why do we have ‘wings that don’t work’? Because our forefathers knew an extra pair of long limbs would be handy in space… and they didn’t want their kids looking like giant bugs!”
– Hans Alvar, Aegiale Physician.

One of the most common of Mankind’s variants, Sylphs quickly spread to the Promise where most communities are based aboard space stations. Scientifically designated as homo aegiale, Sylphs are the descendants of space explorers, genetically adapted to the high frontier. Such alteration was common during the early decades of stellar exploration when genetic experimentation was at its most fashionable. While dozens of space-adapted templates where conceived during this period – more often than not with tragic consequences – the modern Aegiale offshoot represents a mature technology synthesizing many of the best features of earlier attempts. Most Sylphs are the children of at least one Aegiale parent, but root human couples still occasionally apply this template to their offspring in anticipation of their child leading a life in space.

I like your take on sylphs, but I wouldn't class them in the "homo" genus since they're supposed to be spirits
